Problems with firebug in firefox

so firebug doesn’t work in ff3, i downloaded it and tried to inspect a website im working on to edit it live. I was wondering if anyone has had similar problems. I also have web developer bar installed could they be interefering with each other? I really need firebug it’s way better than the devbar.
