yeah I think its intention is to provide a fairly easy introductory programming environment for education, not to be a mainstream content authoring contender. There might be a small surge of processing-based applets on the net but I dont think it would be too much beyond a “look what I learned how to make” kind of thing.

Yeah I have to agree, this may be more powerful than Flash, but I can’t see it being much more than a “look what I learned how to make” thing like Sen said. Afterall, I think I would hate to see a site made 100% in Java… that would probably melt my system, and explode my monitor hehe.
I can’t wait until they release v1 of this… I think I will get it right away (but won’t switch from AS to this… I still enjoy AS)
it would also probably be a good step in going into Java from AS… I would think.
I agree with the last few posts here … I think it’ll be a “look what I can do” type of technology. I don’t think it’s a serious threat to the web community. Maybe a good developer tool, but Flash has it’s own (better) uses.
If I had to invest my money on which technolgy will be used more … I’d throw my life savings into Flash, that’s how sure I am

Yup…methinks as above stated (and as very much stated in the linked site)… this is an educational/exercise tool rather than anything commercial…
probably more like going to the gym to work out as opposed to ‘working out’ in the real world kind of analogy…
this could be a real good bowflex for ppl needing to tune up their scripting skills in general and then transfer that new abstract strength into being better actionScripters
Flash has too many visual wonderments to get lost behind a dry, “code-only” environment
