i bought a $3 component cable in a store. now i connected it to my TV and my DVD player. actually it’s a package home entertainment system by Philips so both my TV and my player have the same brand. now my problem is when i turn on the progressive scan on the DVD remote. the screen gets distorted or blank. it says there in the manual that you need to have a TV capable of progressive scan which i believe i have because the fact that my TV has a Y Pb Pr(Red Green Blue) ports at the back. not only that it also has an S-Video and the interlaced one(Red white yellow) now when i use the remote of the TV to activate the progressive scan…there is no progressive scan option there…there is nothing in the menu that pertains to it. i consulted the manual of the tv but it only has there how to connect using component video cable. there’s nothing in the manual that says how to activate it. now do you think my TV really doesn’t have progressive scan? or maybe it’s just the cable? actually the cable is working because i can see the video using it it’s just that the progressive scan isn’t working…
