I am subcontracting for a producer who wants me to embed a QTVR object into a Flash kiosk. I told him from the very outset that I didn’t know how to do that, or even if it were possible, since I’m mediocre at AS 2.0 (at best) and don’t know AS 3.0 AT ALL. Nevertheless, he went ahead and promised the client that we’d be able to do it and then dumped a buttload of QTVR files in my lap. I did a qoogle search and came up with this:
http://www.actionscript.org/resources/articles/164/1/Object-VR-In-Flash-MX/Page1.html
I told him that I found a tutorial on how to do it, but I didn’t have time to review it. Nevertheless, it seemed to be TECHNICALLY feasible. He took this as me saying “Yes, I can do it,” so apparently subtlety isn’t something he’s into. After awhile, he did a google search on QTVR converters and found this:
http://www.qtvr2flash.com/quicktime-vr-flash.html
I admitted that this looked like it would probably work, so I gave it a shot today and immediately discovered a problem. Apparently, this will only do a 360 degree cylindrical revolve on the y-axis, and NOT a full spherical revolve on all three axes (showing it from the top and bottom). I then went back and realized that the Flash tutorial also doesn’t do anything more than a cylinder revolve. I did another search online, and I can’t find any full 3-axis VR setups in Flash ANYWHERE.
So, my question is, does anyone know of any way to do what this person is wanting? Please bear in mind that I’m not talking about panorama where the camera moves around inside of an area, but where the camera actually “flies” all around a single object to show it from multiple angles. If the answer is “no”, that’s perfectly acceptable to me, I just want to be able to tell him I looked everywhere I could.
Thanks!
