Now, it’s being hosted on one of my old free Brinkster accounts, so there might be a pop-up. Last time I check, all it had was a “Hosted by Brinkster” blurb on the very bottom of the page. Lemme know what ya think. Oh yeah, I know the text is horrible, so thats been said and done.
BTW, this is my first actual “critique-able” flash project…I’ve done other stuff, but it’s just stunk too much. I didn’t want anyone’s eyes to begin to bleed after they looked at them.
you should not feel intimidated to post. however having said that i have to be frank. i think there is a lot of work left on this. those squares are not very intuitive. what are they doing? the x on the box - not intuitive. it just moves the box. The image - needs work. The whole panel look. I mean why? how many sites have that stepped panel look? But that is a personal preference and you can choose to ignore that. I think some additional flash skills are needed to achieve what i think you want to.
As soon as I saw it I had this idea for it so here it goes. It may seem a little boring but I think it’d be original. Remove the pic of the wolf and make everything white with black lines no colors or colored boxes. It is limiting but I think you could get really creative with it. It’ll kind of look like you designed it on an etch-a-sketch. Have all the animations be simple boxy lines coming together or outlined shapes moving around and pixel fonts, no fat fonts though just linear ones. The only thing that I’d put in color would be examples of your work if this is a portfolio site that is. Anyway, just my 2 cents.
Yeah, thats what I just did. I took Sixo’s advice, and this is what I removed:
-No more box animations
-No more background
-No more X in the one corner
-Removed the gradient bars
After removing all that, it looks alot better. Still not perfect, but here is what I’m going to change in a few seconds after I post this:
-Changing all the pixel fonts
-The pixel fonts I am going to keep, the font itself is being change to a more ledgable pixel font
I’ll upload the new version of it and I’ll see what everyone thinks. Thanks for the advice so far. I’m pretty new to using Flash for web design, so all the criticism is helping me out.
