Hey. I’m completely new to Actionscript 3.0, and I seem to be having some problems at one at one of the most fundamental levels. This is just a very quick question, but I haven’t been able to find the answer anywhere. I’ve read through numerous forum posts, but surprisingly have not found anything. I feel really stupid for not being able to figure this out.
How do you access variables between movie clips? It used to be so simple in 2.0. You could just go to _root.clipName.variableName. No longer, it seems. How do I do it? It’s such a simple thing, you wouldn’t think there would be any problems, but I just can’t seem to figure it out.
While I’m at it, how exactly do you interact with classes? How do you tell an object to run a function that is defined inside the class?
Any help would be appreciated. Man, Actionscript 2.0 was far easier. There seem to be a lot of powerful functions in 3.0, but you can’t do a ■■■■■■ thing with them if you can’t even figure out how variables work.
