just a suggetion …
instead of a normal bevel and emboss, try having it set on
chisel hard or soft, that will get the desired uneven cut egde crystal efect you are looking for.
if you are looking for another crystal tutorial this is the one i used

much improved, toning down the second set of crystals in the back adds contrast and makes it easier to look at.
