Scenes?

When I started hearing (reading) people say “don’t use scenes in Flash”, I sort of excepted the response as ‘sage advice’… I tried to pass this advice on, and was asked “Why?”, which, other than being vague, and wishy-washy, I didn’t have an answer. What’s the problem with scenes?
