Searching in flash

I’m starting my final project in school and I want to make a flash page were you could search an xml or any other database from multiple criteria, and then get the result back to flash, is this possible, and how difficult is it? is there any tutorial for this? I’ve found a lot of search methods for flash but none of them with multiple criteria…
