Hello all –
I’m just beginning work for a client on an image displaying tool – works much like google maps, actually: you can zoom in and out, each level of zoom is made up of a grid of images, etc. This is not the problem (at least not yet, I imagine many trials and tribulations to come!). The issue comes in the area of security: the client’s images represent the product they will be selling (maps) and they understandably worry about people stealing their images.
Now before you ask:
[]Yes, I realize it’s a lot better to have images in flash than just in the (X)HTML, preventing simple downloading.
[]Yes, I realize that people can always do a screen capture and obtain the images that way.
[]Yes, I realize that it’s a good bit of work for someone to put all the squares together…but it can be done, and it is apparently enough of a concern for this client.
[]Yes, I have searched the forums and the net; I haven’t really found anything applicable (and if that’s simply bad searching on my part, on my own head be it).
The problem: I had never realized that images loaded into a .swf (from external sources) were cached; I had never had any images that I was that concerned about. That being the case, however, does anyone know any ways to either get around this (i.e. prevent images from being cached) in Flash?
Many thanks.
