I’m about a month away from wrapping up my shareware blog/cms software. System Requirements? Windows XP Pro and a Broadband connection.
Do it yourself instructions:
1.) If you have Win XP Pro and Broadband, start up IIS.
2.) Create a free DNS. This is your URL that points to your PC on the Net.
3.) If your broadband IP or network changes, just update your DNS entry online.
4.) Install my software to a folder on your PC (inetpub/wwwroot/blog)
5.) Configure it in about 5 minutes; theme, database usage, features.
Benefits to hosting your own blog are:
1.) Don’t pay for extra like blog-hosting at blogspot.com; host from your broadband connected PC and get more value from your connection!
2.) According to the Terms of Service, your blogs at blogster.com can be deleted at anytime and they are not liable (of course). You can have peace of mind backing up your blog on your own PC (along with the rest of your PC).
3.) Customize the client-side and server-side code of your pages! This is future power you can use later.
