Hi,
Another “my first Flash effort” coming up. www.RobertaGoh.com . Never touched web-design before… actually work as a manager on an IT support desk at an Investment Bank (dull, I know)!
The missus wanted a website to show-off her photos and try to sell some too… getting there, nearly finished, input appreciated.
I’m pretty proud of the rotating menu, took a lot of learning to get from scratch to that in Actionscript. The Gallery page is all XML driven too. All the different pages are seperate FLA’s… learnt my lesson after trying to manage it all in one! Also managed to figure out a bit of PHP to do the contacts.
The cart is not fully functional yet, haven’t sorted out the pricing and postage logic yet (so ignore any empty drop-downs). Old Muggins here thought long and hard about how to build a Flash shopping cart, came up with a plan (loads of Arrays), but was convinced the pros could do it better. So then went and paid $50 for FlashKart, then just to realise they did pretty much how I planned. Anyway, its a useful skinable plug-in I found.
Two things I just can’t seem to fix:
1 - On an LVD monitor I get loads of hazy outlines from loaded movies that have blank spaces. Fine on normal monitors…
2 - In the Gallery section the thumbnails are loaded in order, using XML file from a local folder. Sometimes these just don’t load in… even when in Actionscript my pre-loader clearly says they have. Its really sporadic… you can then reload the site and they will all work fine. I hate intermitent bugs!
A couple of the links are still empty, don’t worry too much about the obvious things that are wrong, more interested in a general feedback.
Thanks for looking guys…
Cheers,
