Some Firewalls interfering with preloader?
I have been encountering a preloader problem for sometime, now.
I’ve been searching and searching for any indication that anybody at all, is having the same troubles.
I did, and I think I know why.

I never would have thought of trying the firewall, were it not for those two posts ^
It seems to me, that some firewalls are indeed interfering with, what I thought was well written flash preloaders.
I have found, and confirmed this same problem on my computers.
On one machine, the preloader shows, and on the other machine,
it doesn’t show, and the text field displays “Infinity”.
Some firewalls stop it from working. I turned off the fire wall on the laptop,
and then the preloader works as it should. Turn it on again, and my text display reads “Infinity”.
I have McAfee on the machine that works(desktop).
I have EZFirewall, that came with RoadRunner, on the laptop and it is with this firewall,
that my preloader goes byby.
If you have the EZFirewall, try it.
Turn off your firewall, and check it again.
I wonder if you’ll see the preloader as it should be, or not.
Has anybody else encountered this?
I guess this is my question.
I wonder if it’s because even though a MovieClipLoader class is being used for tracking of download progress of jpg files, the fact that xml is still present in the movie, it is affecting the MovieClipLoader preloader stuff?
If so, do you think there is a fix for this, short of getting some people to shut down their firewalls, so they can see our work, preloaders and all?
XMLSocket class is used to create persistent socket connections with other computers. Please note that XMLSocket class has no HTTP tunneling ability unlike Flash remoting and Flash communication server, thus you may run problems with firewalls interfering with traffic being sent back and forth between Flash and server.
