To find it, go to the workshop outlines page and scroll down to either of the bottom two courses. Follow the link to the inside page and you’ll see a big red square.
These images are exactly the same as the ones that work fine as far as I can tell. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?
I’m not sure that changing the preferences will do anything - if it does, then it might be more helpful to tell him what it should be changed from/to.
I’ve followed the instructions and nothing actually loaded for me. No pictures or red squares, and no text either. This suggests that there’s a path issue with loading the relevant files, whether they’re standalone swf’s or jpgs. Are they in the correct folder on the server and have you entered the right paths?
I see…yes that would make sense as it might be a security access issue. However, looking in my cache, I can’t see that any other external files are loaded so it would appear that all of the images are contained within a single SWF. In that case, if they’re not appearing, then it’s more likely that there’s a problem with the code somewhere.
In the example I have mentioned, the images were loaded as external .swf, externally and included and Publish it again changing the preferences. Better if it is compiled ( say , published) with another machine. I do not know why this is happening, but it happens. Probably its due to a bug in Flash CS3/8.
But the solution will be not to save the .jpg, .png in a wrong way from Photoshop or Fireworks. The image should be saved with “non-progressive” adjustments.
Glosrfc, if you follow the link I put above, it will take you to a page where the flash site will load. It’s a single .swf without any external files or images loading into it.
I just looked at the site again and it’s very weird, sometimes the images will display fine, and then if you navigate around the page a bit and then come back to them they will display as red boxes…
I found these two things on the adobe website which relate to the problem I think,
The images were imported into the movie with import to stage / library. Is that likely to be the problem? If so how do I import jpgs without using that function?
Or alternatively I could try allocating more ram and publishing like that.
It’s just weird how sometimes the images will display okay and sometimes they won’t in the file that’s published and on the internet!
