Someone please help! Major Performance Issues in SWF Made in Flash CS4

I’ve been working on a Flash header for awhile now that takes in weather information and has a waterfall. The waterfall always appears and based on the local weather (determined by PHP added via flashvars) it adds weather effects to the scenes. However, the Flash is totally screwing any sort of JavaScript Effect that relies on intervals and just slows my browser down (Firefox 3.5) to a crawl.

I’ve spent a lot of time trying to reduce the code, add pngs vs blend modes/alpha and the like, but I can’t seem to get enough performance out of the flash player to make any sort of difference. I really like the effects I’m putting in (it looks really nice in my opinion), but the cost to performance has brought me to the point that I think I may have to scrap the project :cantlook:. So, I’ve decided to bite the bullet and upload a .zip file to my server with the .fla and .as files that make the project in hopes that you Flash Guru’s will take pity on a noob and see if you can come up with any ideas on how to improve the performance so that I can use this flash in my website.

If anyone has any suggestions or can be of any help it would be greatly appreciated!

If anything else, this project has helped me learn more about AS3… sigh

The website I’m using my flash on is here: http://www.soluml.com/preproduction
The zip file is located here: http://www.soluml.com/preproduction/flash/Flash Project.zip

My apologies ahead of time if this topic should be in the AS3 forum.
