Adaware/Spybot Search&Desotry
There was this new one which was said to be better but that cost something and I can’t remember its name

webroot Spy Sweeper… it’s FREE!

Here you go!
http://www.kirupa.com/k2/Feb2004/security.htm

Read up! It has explanations, recommendations, and some screenshots of the programs! Any questions just post up!

I really like adaware and spybot (both available for free from http://www.download.com )

I would also install service pack 2 if you’re on an xp machine…it’s a 260 mb download

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=049C9DBE-3B8E-4F30-8245-9E368D3CDB5A&displaylang=en

Once service pack 2 is installed, go into internet explorer, click on tools–>manage addons. You can disable suspicious addons here (things that have “hijacked” your browser). This is very similar to a program called “Hijack this” also available from download.com

Also, you might want to search the forums…this question has been asked numerous times and there’s a great tutorial about spyware/virus/adware somewhere on kirupa

You guys coming out with a new edition anytime soon? I want in.

Spybot! ***it u need it. ad-aware is shtty. spybot made me in love with my computer agen

There will be no Kirupa Newsletters for a while ( a long while if ever ).

No - not for a really REALLY long time :frowning: I figure the contributor’s time and my time could be better spent writing random stuff on the forums or creating new tutorials instead!

:frowning:

Ad-aware 6.0 Pro or the new Ad-aware SE. Spyware is spyware, choose an application and bring apocalyse to it.

somehow I need both. Neither Spyware nor Adaware were abled to find everything. but they make a good team.

i found this very cool utility on some site…gota search it, it was a spyware, adware and trojanware…all in one. PM me
