Stage Scalemode & Scrollpane question

I have a Flash applet I’m working on and I’ve run into a problem that is beginning to agrivate me because it should be simple. I created a movie symbol with nothing on it but a large image. On the root scene I have placed a smaller scroll pane object and have linked it to the movie containing the image. My problem is that I want the Stage’s Scale Mode to be “exactFit” (because of how I want the layout to look) but I want the size of the scroll pane to adjust to the stage without distorting the scroll bar or the image. I’d like the image to stay centered in the scroll pane and only have the scroll pane adjust to the stage size. If you know how to make the actual size of the scroll pane change as the stage changes also that would be fabulous to know.
