Summer Apprentice Wanted (Virginia, USA)

I’ve decided to bring on a apprentice or multiple apprentices this summer. I’m saying “apprentice” because this is truly a shadow roll and will remain a 1 on 1 relationship through the summer. I’ll try not to sound like a pompous *** while writing this

The selected candidate(s) will be working directly with myself, an award winning, published, seasoned Art Director and interactive developer. You’ll be working on interactive projects using the Adobe CS3 family to assist me with designing, producing and developing work for top agencies and studios. Clients include Sony, Samsung, Reebok, Fox, MySpace, Estee Lauder, The NBA and many others.

In addition to working with my clients you will be given a summer long project, give weekly presentations and endure harsh and honest critiques. At the end of the summer you will have developed a thick skin and completed the brainstorming, concepting, design and presentation phases to return to school with. You’ll also walk away with a professional portfolio of your past and present work.

The position(s) will require 20 hrs a week on site starting May 28th and ending August 3rd. These dates and hours are flexible. Additional hours may be required off site to insure dedication. This apprenticeship will be Mr. Miyagi style and I may refer to you as “Daniel Son” from time to time. In other words, this is an unpaid apprenticeship. I realize many candidates will not be living at home and need an income or need an income to remain on insurance with their parents so working hours will be geared towards the early morning to allow for an addition afternoon/evening job.

Finally, there will be an end of summer critique of your overall improvement, the work you’ve done and on other attributes like attention to detail, speaking and time management. Upon an excellent review at the end of the summer, you will be given a huge rewarded. I cannot stress this enough! It will out way any 40hr salary you would earn at McDonald’s, Barnes & Nobles or Lowe’s not to mention you’ll be doing what you love daily.

* Must be a high school grad or current college student.

* Basic understanding of Adobe Photoshop is required, knowledge of additional Adobe products a plus.
* Additional knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, CSS and others all a plus.

Please include all of your contact information, links and a brief bio of yourself. Make the subject: “I Want To Be Your Summer Lacky”

Slackers need not apply. I cannot guarantee if you will be able to transfer any of the time spent with me into college credits but we’ll do our best. I’m a fun and laid back guy but I’m going to break your back this summer for sure.
