Text problem with external swf

I am making a site in which all the menu items are on a parent swf and the content is loaded in from a child external swf. The external swf loads fine except I can’t see any of my dynamic text. I used a Kirupe tutorial to learn how to call the external swf. It is a short tutorial if you need to reference what I have done so far. I am still new to flash so I would appreciate any info about this problem.
