Text problem!

Hi

My problem is quiet simle. In one movie I load in text from an external textfile as done in one kirupa tut (under Advanced - Scrolling loaded text). In this text I have HTML tags, I have checked for HTML format and all this works when I test the movie.

Now to the problem:
In my main movie I load in this swf into an empty movieClip. The thing is that there is no text visible at all but the scroller seems to have detected how long the text is. I cant find to solve this problem.

If somebody knows whats wrong I epriciate the help

thank you

Hmm…I don’t know exactly what’s wrong so this is a shot in the dark. Select your text box, open the properties panel and make sure the “render as HTML” button is selected. I hope that helps.

thanx… but I have done that. The thing is the text is visible when I test the movie I’ve put it in. But when I load that movie into another it gets invisible… the wierd thing is that it seems like the scroller has detected the text… could it be some kind of bug?

When you load it into the other movie, did you apply some sort of mask? Dynamic text has problems when masked.

Also, I know this is obscure, but, check the color of the dynamic text. I had a problem like that last me for hours banging my head against the monitor trying to figure out what the heck was going on. I found that my text was the same color as the background - so hence, I couldn’t see it, but the scroller worked fine…
Hmm…

hehe… Ive done that too… banging my head several times in frustration…

but yes I have checked the color and I use no mask… thank you for trying to help. There is maybe one reason. In the swf where i load the text, the textbox is in a MC that is scaled up from 0 to 100 in its main timeline. Could this be my problem?

thanx again

Hmm…that could be, you’ll never know until you try something. Try not scaling it and see what happens.

Hello guys
Mago did you take care that problem cause if you did PLEASE
tell me how you did it.
I post the same problem in two different forums and I can get no answers. :sigh:

Check this site out http://eleganciadecor.com/brewcrew/brewcrew.swf

and this is the rectangle I’m loading at the end of the movie

http://eleganciadecor.com/brewcrew/hcontent.swf

you can see the text when you play hcontent.swf but when I
load it to the brewcrew.swf the letters disapear

Thanks

Hi

Robert… I havn’t figured it out yet and I put it behind me for now. I solved it by embedding a font from FFF and then it shows, but there must be another way that works without embedding a font. If I figure it out I will email you

rock on

Hi again

I forgot to ask you guys… is there maybe some other place I can get hold of fonts created for flash except FFF, I mean… free fonts… Im not to ritch. thanx
