Hi, everyone!
A quick note that I just posted the 3rd edition of, **Animation in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript:

If you want to be cool (and I fully realize some of you can’t get any cooler), you should go get if from Amazon.

Anyway, read below for the list of major changes in this edition if you are soooo bored with your life that this sorta stuff excites you :z:

Cheers,
Kirupa :stuck_out_tongue:

Major Changes
The changes in this edition are pretty large and (unlike me doing what I want) based entirely on you all telling me what you liked or didn’t like. The major changes are:

1. The Book is Cheaper and the Kindle Edition is Free if Buy the Paperback
The initial editions of this book were expensive. In this edition, the book’s cost is around 50% of what it was before. It has nothing to do with my suave James Bond-like persuasive abilities. It has more to do with me choosing to print using the cheaper black-and-white option. Yes, this book is now black-and-white…just like the classics your grandparents read.

The before and after:

In all seriousness, I do miss seeing these pages in full color. To make up for this, if you buy the paperback edition in black and white from Amazon, I’ve made it so that you can get the full-color Kindle edition for free.

I know that all of the other books written by those other authors are in full-color and still very affordable. The difference is that I am self-publishing using the on-demand Amazon/Createspace service, and the costs for not mass-printing books means that the base cost is much higher. Hopefully the combination of a lower-cost paperback edition combined with the free Kindle edition for those of you who purchase the paperback from Amazon makes up for it :2c:

Also, I believe most household pets can’t see color too well either, so I feel I am helping you better relate to your furry little litter machines.

2. The Content is Newer and Fresher
This one is obvious, but there were many small and large content updates. Misspelled words are now misspelled in different ways. Technical errors have been corrected and verified on the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, IE, and the iPhone. A new chapter or two were added. An existing chapter or two were gutted and renovated.

3. The Book’s Physical Dimensions Are Smaller
I did some research a while ago. And by “research”, I mean I spent five minutes reading Amazon’s description of the popular physical dimensions for other technical books that people buy. It turns out that this book was just too big, so I reduced the width and height by some boring percentage to be 7.5" by 9.2".

Unlike popular smartphones that are probably about the size of this book, this book doesn’t permanently bend and break when you put in your back pocket.

4. The Layout is Less Ancient-er
This book no longer looks like something designed using layout trends from the 1960’s. The third edition (for both Kindle and paperback) definitely has moved the needle by at least 20 years on this front.

**Conclusion: You Tell Me What’s Next!
**There will be more editions based largely on what you all tell me you want to see, so feel free to let me know what you like, don’t like, or want to see explained. While I troll Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and other social networks regularly, the easiest way to get in touch with me is to e-mail me directly at kirupa.at.kirupa.com.
