The Cost of Bacon Soars!

A quick pastiche of a popular magazine…

…with global uncertainties and investor speculation on the international pork markets, the price of crude pig has steadily climbed to record levels. In the UK, there have been calls for the Chancellor of the Exchequer to abandon a recent increase in SAT (Snout Added Tax) as the cost of ham nears the £8 per lb mark. Europeans have also joined in the protests. In France, charcutiers are besieged as Parisians try to get hold of imported quartier du porc while, in Berlin, many Germans already fear that they can no longer afford Sulperknochen or Eisbein.

Meanwhile, in the US, consumers have watched as the cost of bacon climbs inexorably past the .99c barrier. When a single rasher is offered for sale at the astronomical price of $2, an internationally-famous magazine produces the following cover entitled “The Price of Bacon Soars”

Dog’s don’t know it’s not bacon!!
