The easiest way to cut a face from a picture?

Hi,

I need to be able to cut a face from a photo, however, I don’t use photoshop, but have the whole macromedia suite (mx2004). I can cut a face easily with Windows paint, but it does not cut the image alone, it also puts it on a white background!

Any way to extract just the face, or make the white part transparent?
