I’ve been a huge fan of Mr. Douglas Adams for a few years now. The hitchhiker series is one of the funniest, yet strangely philosophical books I’ve ever read. So in all honesty I was a bit worried when I heard a movie was being made. When a movie is made from a book and the author is not involved in the making of said movie…the movie rarely turns out good. Case in point: Dune. On the flip side when the author is involved with the movie, the movie usually turns out fantastic. Case in point: Sin City. Yes there are always going to be films that are good/bad regardless of author involvment…the Lord of the Rings Trilogy turned out great and the author was obviously not involved in that one.
Now Douglas was not involved with the making of this movie…and according to this review it shows. I am not one to love/hate something based entirely on what someone else says…so I will probably go see the movie anyway, but to know that the dialogue (which made the guide) is lack luster, many of the characters have been changed, and many of the scenes have been sliced…makes me sad. To have the movie be many peoples first glimpse of the Guide is going to turn many away from it, which is a horrible thing as the Hitchhikers Guide is a wonderful story, be it the Books or the TV show. Anyway here is a review, one of the many out there. Ultimatly make up your own mind.
