So I’m looking to buy my firs car (and stop having to drive my parents’ '96 Ford Windstar :lol:). I’m am very set on a VW - either a Golf or a Jetta.
I’ve found a few new-body-style Jettas kinda in my price range - but was looking at the older-style ones too (i.e., '99 Golf Wolfsburg Ed.).
I’ve been trying to do some research on it, but what I read is that VW had bad sales in the early 90s (?) and then some time, around 1999, took the Golf off the market and dealt with some quality/reliability issues in its plant in Mexico.
So (based on incomplete research), I’m thinking that 1999 and up would be the safest route to go with a V-Dubb - however, if anyone has found/can find any information about that Mexico thing in 99ish, that’d be great.
