just a question about the size of my site…
i’m not a flash expert or any thing, and i would like to know if it is
possible to change the size of the flash site based on what ever the users
screen resolution is?
i made my site ‘which isn’t finished’ www.sqladmin.org in a 1280 x 1024
screen. i didn’t realise till later that the users may have less, and so
naturally the display is larger than what i wanted them to see.
if the user has any thing less than 1280 x 1024… could i have the site automatically change ?
you could jus tscale it but i don’t recommend it. You should actually do 2 sites a high bandwidth one and a lower one. Just scaling the swf will distort the type and look off.
Don’t use <p> for line breaks, instead created a table 100x100% and align the flash movie to play in the middle. other wise from small resolutions the site is really unviewable
edit: also sorry to say this but please lose that ambiance, if i hear it one more time on a website im going to go crazy
i could lose the sound, but it works so well. i know alot of us web-jockeys have heard it too many times, but hey… it works.
also… thanks for the heads up with the ‘p’ & table advice. i’ll have to follow that up.
hey radiox…
thanks for the compliment. the purpose of the site is to show any potential employers what my current environment is… thus explaining what kind of operation my company has.
hey man, actually you can make it rezise WITHOUT scaling and losing quality. in your publish settings set your movie to 100% and turn scaling off. then certain things that you want to adjust, like bars, menus etc. use the Stage object to define them to the desired width based on the resolution. dont know if you caught that, not very detailed, hang on let me find a link.
