The wispy effect

Well I wasn’t too sure what to call it, so I just titled it relatively to the effect.
I am making a flash site. I’ve got the pre-loader all setup, and have started working on the “intro”.

Have a look at the following flash website.

Notice the curvy lines at the beginning, and how they form.
How can achieve this effect?

I had considered those possibilities as methods, but I thought there were other options.
I’m going to attempt the “frame after frame” masking. Thanks again.
