Universal suggestion for this forum

Hi guys. I was just browsing this forum and thought about something I think everytime I come here, so I figured I’d put it out there as a possible sticky.

Something way too many people do here is post something they only spent 3 seconds on. If you presented that design in a class crit you wouldn’t even be included in the crit because it would be obvious you didn’t work on it.

You can’t critique something that isn’t there. So please, if you want a REAL CRITIQUE of your design, you have to have a design first. PLEASE spend some real honest time coming up with ideas and trying things out, and some real honest time refining them before you post something here.

A showcase is only for finished designs, and critiques are only for designs that the designer feels is nearing completion, or has come a fairly long way.

If you’ve been working on a design and you feel stuck, then post it here to try and start a conversation. But please don’t post something you haven’t spent any energy on or given any thought to. Don’t use other’s opinions as a crutch for designer’s block! If you’re stuck, go take a walk, ride a bike, read some good poetry, watch a wierd inspirational film, do some photography, make a painting. There are a million things that you can do to shake up your creativity. Then go back to work on that design!

I really don’t want anybody to be offended by this or take it as some kind of elitism, but if you’re very new to Flash and you just want ideas, this is not the forum to post in. If you’re very new to Flash AND you’ve just finished your first design, by all means post it here and I’m sure there will be very many critiques to listen to and learn from!

I feel very strongly about this and I want everyone to take it seriously. This is not a random rant. This showcase forum, like all the Kirupa fora, are excellent places to live and learn!

Thank you for listening!
