Is an “S” still an “S” if you turn it upside down?
This simple question has plagued me for years. It was asked at a family get together somewhat randomly by my father, and blew up into a huge discussion that continues to this day. My dad (and I) believe that the answer is “yes,” while my sister believes that the answer is “no.”
The two arguments are as follows:
**Option 1
**Argument: Draw an arrow pointing up. Now if you turn it so that the up arrow is pointing down, it is upside down.
Conclusion: Yes
**Option 2
**Argument: Point up with your hand. Now if we point that side down, it is turned upside down.
Conclusion: *No
*
