Version Cue

Hey all. I recently went through some of the videos that total training offer for the Adobe Cs range and have found out about this hidden gem called “Version Cue”.

From what i have discovered not many know or use this feature which is a real shame because it is absolutely amazing.

Version Cue was introduced with the Abobe Cs range. What is basically a file management system specifically for adobe applications.

some of it’s features :

having the ability to search for files with keywords used in the comments or file name, ability to view thumnails of your work across all file types, a system to acknowledge if the file is in use by another designer on your team or if the file is free to work on and best of all saving multiple versions of a file with comments within one file with the ability to easy go back to early versions of the file (file tracking).

If you want to read up more about it, and i really would recommend designers of all types to check it out, especially if you have CS range.

run through this flash movie… click on adobe creative suite (top button) and go through the version cue’s 4 options.

>> i would be interested in seeing if anyone uses Version Cue already, if you do post what you think about it, and has it helped you with you work?

Soulty just turned me onto it. And it is indeed a gem. I always have trouble with versioning, but this takes care of that. Thanks Man. Cant believe this was under my nose and never cared to install it.

that is pretty useful… something like CVS used for text files in a company structure. nice utillity. you say it is only available in Cs version of PS?

ah… so that’s what it’s for :P:P:P

as you have to basically switch it on in the applications as well i would think that only the cs range would have that at the moment, i would assume future version will also be able to do it, but im not too sure any of the older adobe products have plugins to activate it but i wouldnt think so.

I have cs at work… I think I should check into this…
maybe a cool security feature… thanx
