I am working on a website for a friend who owns a bar called the Monsoon Room. I have finished a design and everything is pretty much in place except for a few unfinished features that I have been trying to tackle for a few weeks.
1 - I need to have a music player on the site because the bar’s owner would like to feature different local artist’s music monthly. The mp3 player should be practically incorporated into the site (nothing outstanding different looking). The mp3s should also be changed pretty easily without too much work, because the bar owner wants to maintain this herself.
I like the player from www.roxy.com. I can design and animate my own player. My problem is placing the actionscript in the right places. I always mess them up. If someone can maybe send me an .fla file with 3 buttons with the correct script and tell me what to modify to make the playlist, that would be PERFECT! lol
2 - A simple email subscription feature so that the bar owner can send people information about upcoming events and promotions. Again, this should be very simple looking.
3 - The Client would also like an Events calendar (will go under the Events button). Right now, that button goes to my MySpace page. But if possible, I’d rather have a calendar embedded into the Flash movie instead. Also, the calendar should be able to be updated without much effort and without having to have Flash 8 program.
4 - I will be building a map and driving directions for the contact page.
If anyone can help me with any of these features (besides #4, I got that), I would very much appreciate it. I would like to move onto my next project within the week.
Quite possibly, I may want to attach a forum for this site (linked to from the events page). If anyone can suggest a good Forum site, I’d appreciate it.
Hmmm…I forgot to mention that I’ve seen that mp3 player before. It’s cool but I don’t know how to customize it beside changing the colors. If I have to pay someone to help make a custom player, I will. I need my own player and/or the know-how to make players for future projects.
ok, cool. So I can get the mp3 player to work, and I’ve successfully customized it. BUT (there’s always a but…) the sound won’t play when I have the mp3 movieclip in my website nor when I place it inside an empty movie clip. Does anyone know what I may be doing wrong? I haven’t modified any of the actionscript.
For that calendar … like defective said: There is a search button on the upper right corner. Works great and does wonders

As for the calendar part, I’m using the SparkEventsCalendar flash component Nevertheless, since XML is still quite shady to me, I’m planning on overlapping plain buttons with the actions I intend for each day, instead of using the full capability of that component.
