I’ve had this problem for a while now, even some before I upgraded my graphics card to a series 7 GeForce.
Certain clips (quite many actually), when using fullscreen playback on my tv, are no longer displayed correctly. Some are scaled down, some are stretched.
I use the Media Player Classic (I’ve also tried VLC and WMP) with a number of different codecs installed/uninstalled/reinstalled in an effort to get back to the problem-free situation I’ve had until these problems began.
Problem 1: There are now always black bars at the top and bottom on my tv (not letterbox sized, but smaller - they are still very much visible and annoying). This has never been the case before. And when I close any Media Player playing a clip, the Windows environment is shown without the black bars - full screen.
Problem 2: Streched video. Almost every clip I try to play is distorted. Some 4:3 clips are displayed as 16:9 and 16:9 is displayed as 4:3 - making the clips either streched or compressed. For example, I watch the show “The Daily Show” every weekday (I have the show via CNN, but it’s nicer to download it and watch when I have free time) and it has always worked fine, until these problems began a few months ago. Now, The Daily Show is always compressed in height (y-axis) on my tv - but it’s playing correctly on my pc.
** What I’ve tried:** Uninstalling every codec, reinstalling some of them, chaning to newer versions. I’ve looked over the “zoom”-functions in the Nvidia control panel for Overlay video. I’ve tried every possible stretch/ar correction/resize in Media Player Classic, but somehow it’s no longer affecting the video out… I’ve tried a lot more than this, but these are some of the mkost obvious ones you might ask me about.
I really hope someone knows what is causing this! It’s driving me mad…:ogre::red::flower::pirate3:
