Californian Democratic Senator Liz Figueroa has begun drafting legislation designed to block Googles new free E-Mail service GMail due to privacy issues of messages being scanned to offer relevant advertising based on message content.
Senator Figueroa has stated in a telephone interview: “We think it’s an absolute invasion of privacy. It’s like having a massive billboard in the middle of your home”. Even though GMail is in its initial testing, this is not the only privacy concern.
Groups in Europe have raised concerns that GMail may well violate Europe’s privacy laws because users will not be able to permanently delete messages. In total, over 24 groups in the US and UK have raised privacy concerns over GMail.
If he doesn’t want it scanning his e-mails then don’t use it.
How simple is that.
Yet he has to go and stuff things for everyone else who may like to use it.
I have no problem with it scanning my e-mails and showing relevent adds. Beats random adds that I have no intrest in.
