What to do in NYC?

I’ll be going into the city later this month for a weekend. I’ll be going with the woman from my line art, so what would be some fun places to see or things to do.

Anyone have any ideas?

yankee stadium - but i hate them

Museum of Modern History
Museum of Modern Art
Statue of Liberty and or The Empire State building
Circle line tour of Manhattan from the water.
Lots of stuff to shop for, Lots of resturants.

for a search…

just go to Soho and browse throught the little cafes and little art studios. the best stuff is the secret stuff.

Central Park
Little italy (there is some awesome restraunt that’s owned by the mob down there that you should go to. I think it’s like D’Angelo’s).
NYSE
Broadway
Times Square

I don’t think you’ll have trouble finding something to do in New York. It’s got 200 of everything.

hmm, maybe I should preface, things to do on a budget.

So while I would like to do a lot of things, I don’t want to shell out too much cash.

I like the idea of doing little artsy things. I think some cheap yankee tickets would be fun too. I thought about doing a day at the park jsut picnicing. Any good night spots to go to?

definitely the MOMA as Upuaut said - you should go there at leas once in your life (although Im wondering if it’s a Guggenheim)

might seem cliche but if you can visit the statue of liberty - it’s cool

Letterman Show

TD

Yeah I thought about the shows last night. I would love to catch SNL but not sure if I want to camp out for tickets.

Also I’m looking at staying at the W hotel. Any one have thoughts on that.

I appreciate the ideas thus far.

SNL season is over, I believe. Ride the subway at least once, visit Ground Zero, shop/eat/buy at Chinatown, you can visit my aunt in Manhattan, ferry over to Statue of Liberty, see a broadway show, go nuts!

If you are staying at the W then you will be close enough to evrything , Hit central park during the day for the picnic thing there are a million different things to see there, jump on the train ( the #4,5,6, N,R,A,E ) will get you to union square(14st area)where you can walk over to some art galleries,(jazz clubs and comedy cellar there too) in the village and soho area, maybe chinatown for dinner . The theatre district is just west of your hotel, Times square is definitely a must see for first timers( try Ruby Foo’s for dinner on 50th st &Bway) and Caroline’s comedy club after on 51st Bway.
As soon as you get to NY pick up the Village Voice(available in every deli, bookstore), its a free paper(new one every Wednesday) with listings of everything happening in the city for the current week.
Anyway , good luck have fun in nyc
