does it have to be in frames? Thats the only thing I dont like about the second one, throws off my scrolling :-\

I hate working in frames too, but apparently it’s the only solution, considering the way phpbb is set up…
yah I am with Sen on this one… I think you could take the frames out of the second and keep the background on the two surrounding tables… looks great though!

I looked all over the overall_header file, seemed it was the appropriate place for it… but alas, no score… 
I can place the left one fine, but the right on keeps placing itself in odd places…
yeah I sort of got it already. You have to change overall_header.tpl and also index_body.tpl
Hopefully that will get you started. I just changed index_body.tpl and this is what my forums would look like… I just changed the background color…

then just change the widths and make the image a background for the cells… or insert the image inot the cell… or whatever…

Ok, here is how it needs to be done.
Take all of the HTML markup in overall_header.tpl (right from the body tag to the end) and then cut and paste it into index_body.tpl
Then its as easy as adding a table tag along with three td cells
oh, yeah… you’re gonna have to do the same thing for overall_footer.tpl… just copy and paste the code… and you should be good to go.
uhhh… Now I’m all confused… crap…

Well did you see my forums? Thats something like what you want right? What you have to do is combine all three files:
overall_header.tpl
inbox_body.tpl
overall_footer.tpl
Actually all you need is the header and footer files :beam:
I did it! w00t!!!
Now I have the frames I want (sorta), and the scrolling is back to normal, phew 
that was a tricky one…
