I have the dual band wireless card from linksys, and it sucks, it’s too slow, yes sure you can connect to A,G and B, but I realize that most of the buildings now use G, so I need to buy a new one, because it’s really important to me.
any suggestion?
I have a linksys A,G,B card also with a linksys Wireless/Wired - G router, and I’m not having any major issues with it. I connect at about 54Mbps on wireless. Are you certain that this issue is related your wireless card?
eh yes kirupa, my connection is pretty slow compared to my friend who uses a different brand but only G available. I’m a dummy in this networking stuff, do you think that because it only support G so it makes my friend’s faster than mine?
also in a certain area I couldn’t even connect to the internet, but my friends dont have that problem.
Check your channel number, make sure you change it (for some brands) to a different one (12). 2.4Ghz telephones screw up the signal. Also, have you configured your base station correctly?
Try what max suggests also. I don’t think it matters if your router/nic supports multiple formats, for that should not result in slower performance. Make sure your router and card are configured to send and receive data as either Mixed or G only.
