[XML] Search for and manipulate data with multiple XML files

[SIZE=1]I am developing a small inventory database for a new client using XML. I would like to create a small XML file for each inventory item (8-10 nodes) rather than create one large unwieldy XML file for the entire catalog. I want to make this very manageable because I plan to create an interface where the client can add new items to the inventory and easily create new XML files to upload to the server.

XML file 1:
<item>
<number>
<price>
</item>

XML file 2, etc.:
<item>
<number>
<price>
</item>

RATHER THAN:

<item> number = " " price= " " </item>
<item> number = " " price =" " </item>

I want to make the inventory searchable and pull data from the database, following the XML-Flash tutorials on this site. All the examples & tutorials I have seen here function based on one master XML file. What things do I need to do/ what codes do I need to test these examples with multiple XML files?
