360Flex

For those of you who work with me you probably noticed I was out the last week. iMart gave me the opportunity to attend 360Flex. I had a chance to learn about the latest technology and to meet the entire Adobe Team. For those of you interested in how they are changing the way applications are developed there are some resources included, check them out! A lot of really cool stuff is underway.

[]Apollo, Cross platform thin client for distributing applications. Similar to the principles of Flash, but robust enough to leverage what we know in web development to deliver RIA’s on almost any platform. I don’t think Adobe even knows what to do with this yet; they have a really cool idea and are running with it.

]Creative Suite 3, Hands down one of the coolest things there. Adobe is making an effort to join designers and developers with never seen before tools.

[]Flex 2.01 & Flex 2 (Moxy), Adobe will be releasing 2 versions of Flex this year, one of which codenamed Moxy. Flex Moxy will change the way the applications are compiled and debugged along with a few other toolset features. There isn’t much information on this that’s out on the web; I think most of it was released at the conference.

[
]Flash 9, not only did I meet the entire Flash player team but I also got to see some of the incredible new features that Flash 9 CS3 will incorporate. One of the coolest features was the ability to import almost any CS3 format as an organized asset of your project library. No more manual reproduction of our creative teams comps, just directly import!

[*]Ely Greenfield, the infamous quietly scheming owner who develops the coolest Flex components (which we will probably never be able to use in production). Check it out; I had the chance to meet him there. Ely is also one of the scientists on the Flex development team.
