This is my first shot at something like this. Well actually I tried something like this a long time ago in 3d studio max but that was using other methods and I never finished anything.

This time I used Blender (which I gotta say is the best 3d modelling app ever in my opinion) and the method described in a video tutorial found here: http://www.blendernation.com/2006/09/26/modeling-a-face-and-ear-video-tutorials/
I mainly focused on the head, the rest of the body didn’t come out that well. There are some odd polygon structures in the head part as well but I’m pretty happy with how it came out. Right now it just consists of the mesh and a really high resolution texture which was a real pain to apply.
I made it quickly just to have a model I could work with and to test stuff on. Kinda like Buster from Mythbusters
Eventually, with the help of the awesomeness of Blender’s python scripts, I intend to have it render in my own openGL app in the fastest and most optimized way I can come up with.
The reference images I got from here: http://free-textures.got3d.com/index.html
The model is not very similar to the reference images but that wasn’t my objective.
The textures I put together myself from the reference images. They didn’t come out very well but they work for now:P
