3ds max file corrupted

(i first had this thread in drawing and design. but i think it should be here, since this doesn’t have anything to do with drawing or design. :stuck_out_tongue: it’s more like fixing a corrupted file… and i’ve deleted the thread from that sub-forum.)

the file i was working on suddenly got corrupted, because i moved the frame slider to some value… system restore doesn’t do anything to files. i downloaded another program that would take snapshots, but the corruption happened before i downloaded it so it was useless for what i want to do. everything inside should be fine, because i just moved the frame slider and dragged it onto the scene. :frowning: anyone know how i can recover this file? thanks in advance.

So frustrating to use… and after all your hard work, it destroys your files.

Rename this thread to “The ‘3dsmax doesn’t pwn’ club”

Is there a way that, every time the file is saved, a duplicate is also saved in a seperate place? This would make sense…

guys guys guys, i solved the problem. THANKS SO MUCH GOD!!!
i merged the file. i clicked merge from file menu, and opened the corrupted file, the merge window listed all the objects in my file. there was only one object that was corrupted, so i selected everything else, and it came back up again. but from now on, i’m going to save two files, just in case this happens again.

ya3, 3ds max is awesome, well, atleast i love it.
oli-g, yes it does make a backup file whenever one saves the file… i just figured that out. :stuck_out_tongue: oh well, i saved the new file, so it overwrote it. i wish i had checked it out beforehand.

I beg to differ… unless you can teach me to pwn with C4D of course :stuck_out_tongue: That AstonMartin of yours still makes me drool.

I always use auto save function, you can set it to as often you want in the options. ie. every 5 min.

It’s great for when you decide to try something and stuff up your model… You know that its only a click away to get it back.

Hahah, yeah, 3dsmax can pwn if it’s coupled with VRay, but otherwise I find it rather cumbersome to use. Like drawing with a giant crayon - not very intuitive.

That’s just me. Glad you solved it, though
