6.0 Photoshop question.. quickie

Hey,
I can’t believe I forgott this,

How do I make a line in PS 6.0 dashed , or dotted or whatnot?

You didn’t forget this - this one of the things that Adobe omitted… i would, if I could, use flash/illustrator for that matter… otherwise any possible PS tricks… (like - hum - doing it by hand…) ?

Crap, are you sure?
I though there was a way, because I do remeber since… maybe it was FW…

Oh well…

Paint Shop Pro has a dotted line tool…

and it is what, $70 ?

good old Adobe…

Rev

depending on whether or not it has to be curved or not…you could use the text tool to create a horizontal line of dashes, then copy and paste and rotate to make a box.

you can make a dotted, but not dashed.

To make a dotted, draw a path in the way of the line you want, then select a brush with the size “dot” you want, then adjust the spacing of the brush for the dot spacing of the line. Then stroke the path with that brush and you got yourself a dotted line.

actually you can make a dashed line this way too… Its just tedious. Stroke a path normally (normal spacing so you get a solid line), then add a reveal none mask to the layer for that line. Edit the mask and stroke a dotted line as described above, but larger - the diameter of the size of a dash (roughly) and spacing for the spacing of the dash. Stroke it (white to reveal) and exit the mask edit to see the dashed line.

would the dual brush option work ? (ie to stroke a path with dashes ?)

you can use a pattern…make a grid whatever size, the do a edit>> define pattern. Then place your pattern over the top of the line…Do a search on the forum I started a big discussion on it. I really hate Adobe for not having this…I mean PSP pro has had it since version 6. Now FWMX 04 has it…Sen had made a sweet extension for FWMX. Oh man dont get me to RANTING about not have a dotted line tool.

That would look kind of funky though, wouldnt it? not really dashy methinks (right?)

i knew this had been asked: http://www.kirupaforum.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24449&highlight=dotted+line

I think you could use a fill, just depends on how you set up your fill pattern.
