spaceX IPO is gonna be a circus, but the $130B in blocked data center projects is the part i keep coming back to.

people will absolutely tolerate a lot less once the bill shows up in their neighborhood. “AI future” sounds nice until the substation gets louder, the water usage goes up, and the local paper starts running quotes from annoyed residents.

i’m curious what actually stopped the projects in most of those cases — zoning fights, utility limits, or just communities finally saying no?
