A continuous movement or just a video?

Hi All Flash Experts,

I came across a company’s website at http://www.skyworksinc.com and I am impressed by their banner at the top there. (Due to the big file size of the SWF, I can’t attach it here…)

The sky is moving very fast…I just wonder how they make it…any hints? Thanks.

It’s definately a loop. Looks like video to me. Actually, it looks like fog out of a fog machine and a blue background - or stormclouds :slight_smile:

i had that same thing one one of my previous sites. YES IT IS A VIDEO(.mov file). but there is other ways to do this.

  • point a cam at the sky for about 4hrs, then speed up the playback. then at the end of the mov. quickly fade out and make a loop.

  • use 3dStudio Max <easyest way> TOO BAD FLASH SUCKS AT 3D. trust me, I know… I sat infront of my computer PISSED for hours tryin to do this… It works but it runns way too slow and looks bad. (if you wanna do this just use SHOCKWAVE)

  • I recorded dry ice for my site, then dropped in a background. it took a lot more effort but it looked the best, loaded the fastest and was the cheapest.

  • there is some new software called “particle illustion”

You couldn’t do the sky thing in Arizona, you’d get nothing but four hours of blue (and hot). That’s what made me think of a fog machine - easier to find than clouds here. (-:

Hi guys,

In Malaysia if I am to shoot a 4-hour sky is no problem, but like what Freddythunder said was true, it’s HOT and the sky always changed. The cam could be spoiled at the end :slight_smile:

I don’t know what a fog machine is, but to think it literally, I guess it must be something expensive.

Anyway, I begin to have some ideas of how this could be done (literally). If you are using WinXP, Microsoft got a screensaver called “Bliss” and their sky did exactly the same thing like the one in skyworksinc. So either I use some cam studio to record that or I use a camera to shoot a few real sky pictures and use the looping method to make it move fast. How about that?

you had a good idea…

so guess what i did!!! i took the liberty of putting together an FLA with nothing but cloud loop MovieClips. kinda makes me wish that i could post a link lyke i normaly do so you could download the FLA…

but I DIDN’T PAY THE BILL FOR MY WEBSPACE AT POW WEB SO I DON’T HAVE ANYWHERE TO POST IT

– i’ll figure somethin out, then i’ll be back to make a link.
