A few Questions on the "Install your own server" Tutorial

Before I start, I’d like to point out I am a complete newb at all of this, so I’f I’m going to do something stupid, please say so.

I just did this tutorial and I have a few follow-on questions.

  1. How do I change the directory I have to put my sites etc in? I tried changing the lines “DocumentRoot” and “<Directory “C:/Web…”>” to be simply C:/Web, but It doesn’t work.

  2. How would I modify this so I can host sites to the whole of the internet? I realise my computer would have to be on for people to see the site, but I’m interested in trying it. What extra security precautions would I have to take?

I’m using Windows XP Home Edition if that helps.
