A little banner for my upcoming site

Here is a little banner I am going to be puttin on a friends site. To pump up my up and coming site. Tell me wut you think.

Of course it will be a lil smaller when I use it. BUt this is the pre-prod version

I like the design. Makes me want to know more…

what is 12.03…

what is v2, and why is it gone…

all these questions…

Plus… blue = calm, cool, comfort (see IBM)…

I like the wisp-y effect on the left edge.

I look forward to seeing your new site…

Rev

Rev you are good… Those are the exact questions that I wanted to invoke. 12.03 is when I plan on a release. v2 was never released but it does exist. I have been trying to put together a site for quite some time now. But the stakes are different now I am motivated by $$$…

that is why I have the site I do for myself… I needed an online image, and didn’t have a lot of time to do it in…

I hate being motivated by $$$…

 :nerd:

Rev

OOOPS hahahah I meant to put 01.03 not 12.03 release is in january

Yeah 3d-iva uve got a pretty nice banner. I don’t really think it’s cool being motivated by money to do your own site, but hell, whatever gets your creative juices flowing!

-brad-

hey its interesting your site is going to be called inplod.com rather than implode.com …opposite of explode …i guess that was taken so you took implod? whats the deal with that…

and your banner looks awsome me thinks, the grid fading looks really good IMHO …keep up the good work

PS: there is no shame in being motivated by $$$ , heck i too am addicted to currency and making green …or in canada our multi colored money :sigh:

edit: the current splash page looks amazing, how did you do that? PS?

Yeah I know being motivated by money stinks, but I have just recently had a bunch of freelance work just fall into my lap. I have been a slave to my profession and recently found out I cannot use my stuff in my personal portfolio without risking a lawsuit.

Makaveli- It is kinda a inside thing behind the name implod. Basically this graphic I made a while back for v.1 looked cooler without the “e” so it stayed that way. My current splash was done using swift v3.

nice, love the sprials. Is this gonna be a flash banner
I would love to see that in flash.

Im jealous!!

Yeha i like it!!

What programs did u use??

nah it is not going to be a flash banner. I guess it would be cool if it was.

I used photoshop 7 to create this lil piece. and swift 3d v3 to create my current splash page.

3d. this is the some of the first real work i have seen, and already i am amazed! Good job!

Make me a tutorial for how you did that and I’ll give you a cookie  Maybe two! :o

You Serious!!! a tutorial…hhhmmmmmm…I have to go back thru the history to see what everything I did. I was just messing around then it ended up getting serious. Really this image is made up of allot of duplicated layers and blurring. I will go over what I did and put a tut for this in my tutorial to do list. I am not harboring secrets just sometimes I really lose track of how I did something. I can supply a .psd but I know that wont do much. If there is a certain element in this pic I can explain let me know

What blew me away the most was the twisted graph thingy :beam: If you wanna explain to me how yah did that, thatd be sweet… I also like how, on the end, it looks like a Blue Flame  Mind boggling ehehee

Oh okay

The graph thingy is not totally my doing it is a filter called sinedots. with that filter you can create those types of things a great alternative to you regular box grid. You can create it manually but it is a pain in the a$$.

So Icreated this pattern duplicated the layer about four times. This is what gives me that real white over exposed look. Any time you see my designs with that blinding white look that is more than likely what I did. Then I did agaussian blur with the polygon tool set to 20 px feather. deselect then motion blur the gaussian blur. Duplicated that layer a few times to get the over exposed look. That is a real quick explanation.

Now this was one of my best kept secrets but kirupians get the exclusive; hahahaha

It is very easy ya’ll nothin to write home about.
I took the top most layer and applied a gradient map to it. Not a gradient map. Set the left side of the gradient map to a dark blue then the right side to slightly lighter blue. Apllied the map so it went to about the middle of the image and faded off. Then I made a selection with my polygon tool set to 25 px feather and made like a arrow shape. The applied a ocean ripple filter. That is what gave me that look. By playing with the layer blend of this layer and the gradient map of this layer you can create some realistic smoke or sci fi type of stuff like i did. I know this is a sucky tut but hey I am wingin it.

were do i find the gradiant map?

image–>adjustments---->gradient map

Hate to bother you again, but I have another request  What program did you use to make the 3d glob on your website? Looks like melted metal, its uber sweet

Tell mmeee!

PS: This is my 100th post waves flag :stuck_out_tongue:

Edit: How do I set the Gradient Map? I goto Image->Adjustments->Gradient Map ; press OK and nothing happens… why?
