These are the lyrics to Pet , the track is off thier new album Thirteenth Step. I think this song heavily relates to modern day America and its war on terrorism, the symbolism is great. A well written song.
Don’t fret precious I’m here
Step away from the window
And go back to sleep
Lay your head down child
I won’t let the boogeyman come
Count the bodies like sheep
To the rhythm of the war drums
Pay no mind to the rabble
Pay no mind to the rabble
Head down, go to sleep
To the rhythm of the war drums
Pay no mind what other voices say
They don’t care about you
Like I do, like I do
Safe from pain and truth and choice
And other poison devils
See, they don’t give a **** about you
Like I do
Just stay with me
Safe and ignorant
Go back to sleep
Go back to sleep
Lay your head down child
I won’t let the boogeyman come
Count the bodies like sheep
To the rhythm of the war drums
Pay no mind to the rabble
Pay no mind to the rabble
Head down, go to sleep
To the rhythm of the war drums
I’ll be the one to protect you from
Your enemies and all your demons
I’ll be the one to protect you from
A will to survive and a voice of reason
I’ll be the one to protect you from
Your enemies and your choices, son
They’re one and the same
I must isolate you
Isolate and save you from yourself
Swayin’ to the rhythm of the new world order
Count the bodies like sheep
To the rhythm of the war drum
The boogeymen cometh
The boogeymen cometh
Keep your head down
Go to sleep
To the rhythm of the war drums
Stay with me
Safe and ignorant
Just stay with me
I’ll hold you and protect you from the other ones
The evil ones
Don’t love you son
Go back to sleep
I was really impressed by the album insert that came with APC - the thirteenth step. It was done really nicely. The verticle format of the liner notes reminded me of the NIN - Pretty Hate Machine album.
Pet - great song, great lyrics. APC is awesome in concert, but i’d hafta say Tool puts on a better rock show.
hehe that was a concept album! everyone was downloading those songs off the internet years before the release (only 2 hehe) so they wanted it to look like a burnt cd.
maybe you knew that and i have my sarcasim shield glasses on today
I’ve never seen APC live, but I have caught Tool and they ROCK THE HOUSE, I can imagine they would be better live than APC just b/c they’re Tool for christ sakes.
I’m seeing APC on Nov. 15 (or close to there) in Columbus… anyone from Ohio or elsewhere attending that date?
Alex Grey is an amazing artist… I recieved his most recent book for christmas last year and I thouroghly enjoy admiring his work. I would reccomend it to anyone!
i bought my girlfriend the new perfect circle for her birthday the day before she went to see them apparently they were very good i aint a big fan myself bit suicidal but hey every1 to there own funky front cover though
yeah, I find APC a bit un nearving to listen to sometimes, but you get used to it. I picked their first album up in the sale, I like it… might get the second one some time.
novatake: Punctuation might help you convey your thoughts more clearly. Your sentence run-ons are confusing the hell out of me… Thats all.
“i bought my girlfriend the new perfect circle for her birthday the day before she went to see them apparently they were very good i aint a big fan myself bit suicidal but hey every1 to there own funky front cover though”
“i listen to less than jake lol so i aint really one to talk bout APC first album is cool ill give em that just the new 1 bit slit your throat by music”
APC’s new album is a watershed moment for modern rock music. Tip o’ the hat to Manard and the boys. “Pet” sorta makes me laugh the way it portrays the mindless American masses.
As for Britney Spears, give the girl a break, just because she had to [ censored ] to get her contract doesn’t mean we have to bag on her here. if there was ever an arguement for euthenasia, she is it.
“Say hello to the rug’s topography, it looks so interesting with your face down upon it.”

so i’m browsing the forum, listenign to blue, and i see this thread. so i decide to put in my 2 cents. they are friggin awesome, this album is greatness, and i’m thoroughly satisfied with it. it’s been a logn time since i could pick up an album and feel so attatched to the songs even upon first time listening. i went into an in depth analysis of the nurse who loved me a while back, and although it was interesting, i can’t find the darn file anywhere, so yall must live without. but in anycase. share the wealth.
