hey all. just looking for some comments on my new site design. for the most part it’s done. i just have to toss some code on a page to get my blog to publish onto the site. so 2 of the pages don’t have anything on them… i know that. but otherwise, what do you think?

yeah, I like the random header, (php?) that is interesting. I think that perhaps you could have a different image instead of the same one modified. That would be cool. It is simplistic, but I beleive very effective.
most sites I take a look at, I am gone in seconds. Your site I browsed around a bit on, which is weird for my short attention span.
btw, Chuck Palahniuk is one of my favorite authors
lastly, you may want to change the splash screen so that you can click anywhere on the image to enter. took me a few seconds to figure out how to enter

vladdrac - actually, the header is javascript… my web host doesn’t allow php unless you pay them more money… bastards… but i am going to make some more images. i just needed something to fill the space while i tested the site so i messed around in photoshop for an hour and thats what came out. i will change the splash screen i am also glad you browsed for a little bit. i tried to make it kind of interesting…
did anybody else notice the problem that Digitalosophy had? i only have IE on my computer so i have no way of checking it.

You could download other browsers? I think they’re free.
I like the use of shadows on the borders. Was kinda expecting a border at the bottom though? I like that it’s minimalist but you could make it a little more… involving while still being in the boundaries of minimalism.
i could download other browsers but i just don’t have time… between work and girlfriend i am lucky that i had time to make the site.
i know that i am going to sound like a stubborn bastard… but i don’t know what else i can do to make it “minimalistic”. rob cat, you mentioned a border at the bottom. i thought about it but there isn’t really a border at the top so i wanted it to kinda match. i know there it the header but above that there is nothing. some have mentioned something behind the text but what? i don’t want to throw another pattern into it, there is one in the header, and i don’t want to continue that.
so while i wouldn’t be opposed to trying something… i just don’t know what. so please suggest something. unless i come up with something really awesome that would force me to make major changes, i would like to put this version of the site up sometime next week.
go with it, I like it…but the alignment thing in mozilla could be a problem. A lot of people use those browsers
i know… i asked what i need to do to fix it but everyone went on about how the site was not minimalistic enough
so what should i do?
EDIT: what if i just put all of the content in tables? would that fix the problem? because it seems that everything in tables (like the photos) is fine but it’s the text that is giving me trouble…
well, I don’t see any issues actually in mozilla, firefox, nor IE. It all seems consistant on my computer. Though the mozilla and firefox was viewed in linux, but I don’t see why that would make a difference

I think that perhaps, he may have been confused because your headings appear to be in >'s
well i decided that i had to see for myself… so i downloaded mozilla and indeed all of the text was running over the space it was supposed to. so i just put all of the content that was messed up into a table. that seemed to have solved the problem. so if you viewed the site with in the last 10 minutes or so (my time is about 12:17) it was probably fixed.
just a side note… ****, you guys are fast. it’s like i post something and 2 seconds later there is a reply!

well i believe that all the major bugs are worked out. now i just have to change my blog template to the new site and i am all set!

I like it, maybe a little to simple, but maybe that is your style, and I wouldn’t want to cramp anyone’s style. Also I like how when you change pages, to top header picture is always different. :thumb:
