AS3 is so much better than AS2, there’s no reason to ever use AS2 unless you’re forced to due to some limitation, or perhaps for some external loading shenanigans.
Or if you do animation and you don’t feel like forking over to the money for CS3 which has virtually no improvements on that aspect of Flash. Then it would be good.

AS3 has gigantic performance improvements over AS2 - so even if you’re just doing animation, AS3 is a hugely better option.

I remember some one posting a super smash bros camera that track 2 objects and zoomed in when the were close and panned out when the got father apart, I thought that was pretty cool.
