I don’t seem to find a good tutorial site to learn how to use After Effects. The tutorials are often for advanced users and too complicated to begin with. I’ve Googled and all that… am I blind or just stupid? 
If anybody knows a good site, please, do tell.

well… you can start by checking the beginners guide to AE, which is RIGHT HERE ON KIRUPA.COM!!!
oooo maybe I’ll write a AE tutorial on making a light saber

Oh man we gotta stick that thread up high.
I made a lightsaber in AE once. My Computer Applications class was really impressed.
the hardest part is just the tracking. I built my lightsaber to auto-stretch between two tracked endpoints, but toy saber it was being tracked to only had these two lame pieces of orange tape that the tracker just didnt seem to want to see (so I had to roto it :P)
hehe nice sen, i remember attempting a lightsaber animation years ago and it never got past filming we just joked around too much.
