After flash MX,what?

Hi,
I have presently Flash MX, my first flash, with which I’ve been working for a year and a half. No need to say I am in the process of learning. I am particularly interested in coding. Problem is: as of late I am often faced with the frustration of not being able to open files (“unexpected file format”) written in later versions, MX 2004 and 8. Question: can I have installed simultaneously with MX another version, and if so, which one?
Thanks, friends, for any advice.

I had Flash 8 and MX running on my Univeristy PCs, there seemed to be no conflict, but once have a higher version installed there seemed v little point in having MX…

yeah u can, i have all versions of flash installed in my pc starting from 5 - 8…err thats what u wanted to know right?

maybe you are opening the files made on the newer versions in the later versions eg. opening flash 8 files in flash mx

^hehe hybrid he knows that…lol…he wants to know if he can install any other version of MX8 or 2004 along with the one he already has and if it wont cause a problem.

If you are going to be installing multiple versions, make sure that you install the most recent Flash version last. You probably don’t want all of your SWFs and FLAs to open in an earlier version of Flash by default

That always messes up though. I found that regardless of which one you install first, the version of Flash that you open/execute/run last will always be opened for a .fla file when you next want to launch Flash.
